OUR PROJECTS

The Centre for Biodiversity Conservation and Rural Development remains steadfast in its mission to protect and enhance the natural environment. Our initiatives, driven by community engagement and a deep respect for Kerala’s rich biodiversity, reflect our commitment to fostering sustainable practices and preserving ecological balance. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Kamaruddin Kunju, whose passion for conservation continues to inspire our work. Looking ahead, the Centre is poised to expand its impact by building on the success of our current projects. By deepening our collaboration with local communities and educational institutions, we aim to scale up our conservation efforts, ensuring that future generations inherit a thriving natural world. Our vision is to create a network of empowered individuals and communities that actively contribute to the preservation of our environment, driving lasting change for a sustainable future.

Ente Maram Program - Planting the plantlets.

The Ente Maram (My Tree) Project, led by the Centre for Biodiversity Conservation and Rural Development (CBCRD), focuses on instilling environmental stewardship in students through tree planting. The project encourages students to plant and care for saplings, fostering a lifelong connection with nature. By distributing saplings to students annually and providing continuous support and monitoring, the project aims to create a generation of environmentally conscious individuals. Ente Maram not only enhances local biodiversity but also raises community awareness about the importance of trees in combating climate change and preserving ecosystems.

A year-long awareness campaign by CBCRD aimed at educating the people of Kerala on two key pillars: health through proper nutrition and empowerment through AI awareness.

This initiative promotes clean, natural food habits and introduces the fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence to students, educators, and communities across Kerala.

Starting July 2025, CBCRD will travel across all 14 districts, conducting interactive sessions in schools, colleges, and community spaces in both Malayalam and English.

The campaign encourages digital readiness, better health choices, environmental awareness, and sustainable thinking — empowering the next generation to lead a healthier and smarter future.

Let’s build a better Kerala — one classroom, one family, and one idea at a time.
